About This Game In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the Earth's surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age. The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside. You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised underground. Having never ventured beyond the city limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind. I mean, at a game-type of level, it's pretty well done (I had no technical issues with it at all). The problem is that some of the implementation details are so annoying that I've been driven to Not Recommending it. My issues:- The biggest problem is that the game uses Checkpoints instead of a real Save system. Plus, the checkpoints are not necessarily taken at the best point. Often, they're just after dropping down into some irreversible area. In one case, I got sucked into an end-area animation before I was ready, and there was no other checkpoint than the start of the whole level.- For some unknown reason, the game throws in the occasional Quick Time Event (bashing the "E" button to do things I'd expect to do myself given the rest of the game). This is especially annoying during the last mission.- The "good" ending is locked behind a hidden, obscure, and fairly arbitrary "Moral Point" system:https:\/\/metrovideogame.fandom.com\/wiki\/Moral_PointsIt's very possible that if I hadn't seen a reference to that, I'd have gone through the whole game without even knowing it was there and got locked out of the "good" ending.- The game uses icons instead of text throughout. It's a royal pain in the posterior dorsal to figure out what weapons you have or how they compare to what you find. It's similarly just as irritating to figure out things like the merchant system.- The pacing could use some work. The start of the game has a decent flow: action\/pause, repeat. But, later in the game, you get action\/action\/action...\/pause. The lack of breaks is a bit tiring.- For some reason, walking around the base "metro" areas is different from walking around the action part of the game. It's very slow and you have no cursor to indicate you are (or can) interact with things. That leads to problems with that Moral Point system since you tend to not interact with necessary things because you don't even know you can. In one case, I did interact with a person and ended up mistakenly walking away before they even got around to responding to my interaction.- The endings are a bit weak and the events immediately preceding them feel like some kind of 70s drug dream. How anyone could reasonably be expected to choose wisely based on the information we get coming up to that point is beyond me.- There's an Achievement to kill 10 spiders. So, I spent a chunk of time burning spider webs to kill spiders. When the Achievement refused to pop, I watched some videos and found out the spiders the Achievement references are actually giant scorpions and are found in only one level.- The Nightvision scope leads to some problems in cut scenes. It tends to equip itself during those and makes it difficult to see. Now, if the above aren't problems for you, then, considering it took me 27 hours to complete the game with all Achievements except "Survivor 2033" (complete the game in Survivor mode), the game is worthwhile even at its $20 list price (of course, wait for a sale -- I got the "Metro Redux" bundle for about $7.50). For me, though, I'm still Not Recommending it.. one of my top three favorite games. it's use of lighting and sound is absolutely wonderful. the enemies are mostly good, other than the librarians, which are the most annoying enemies in the game, they come out of nowhere, you essentially can't avoid them, and they just won't die. it's characters could use some work: i wasn't sad when any of them died because it felt as if they were all the same dude just with different layers of Russian accents. the worst thing about this game triumphing over all the rest, are the child you save. it is the most stupid and unreasonable part of the game. other than that I rank this game 9\/10. Bad dubbing meets fantastic gameplay mechanics, a horrifying immersive setting, and a compelling if not cheesy story, I had an absolute blast with the game. it offers about 12 hours of gameplay, and i enjoyed each second of it. Again, the dubbing was pretty bad, but the game was incredible. I would recommend this game for sure. And for just 20$, and less online, Do your self a favor, and pick this one up. I picked this game up a few years ago, and i was too freaked out to play it, after playing just a bit of it, but i'm so glad i dove back in to give it another shot. This game is worth your while. ^^. Now that was a real challenge! I\u2019ve encountered this game not long ago and was surprised how good it is. The plot is pretty interesting and the whole game is just unputdownable!. good game with an amazing story , i recommand you get the redux bundle at any price and it's 10000% worth it at any discount. Really fun game with amazing story! My only complaint is that it's too short! 9\/10 game, buy it whenever!. Patrolling moscow almost makes you wish for a nuclear winteri give it a 10\/10. Played this for the first time yesterday, and the game crashed three times in the first 2 hours of play. Really frustrating. My pc is updated (windows, steam, ect), and I don't have any weird software on my computer. I'm running a i7-8700k, GTX 1080ti, and windows 10. I'm playing the game on normal difficulty in survivor mode. I'd be happy to change my review if this somehow gets fixed. Right now the game is not playable.. No matter what I try, I cannot get this games sound to work (won't play any audio). I don't have this problem with any other game.. Amazing game! It's a must play! Make sure you buy the redux bundle during a sale!
